The Punjab government has officially approved an increase in the salaries of daily wage earners, with the Lahore deputy commissioner (DC) issuing a notification to implement the revised wage structure.
The decision aims to provide financial relief to thousands of workers across various sectors.
New wage structure announced
According to the official notification issued by the assistant commissioner (HR), the daily and monthly wages for different categories of workers have been revised as follows:
-
Skilled workers: Daily wage fixed at Rs1,975, and monthly salary at Rs45,945.
-
Semi-skilled workers: Daily wage fixed at Rs1,558, and monthly salary at Rs43,108.
-
Unskilled (non-skilled) workers: Daily wage fixed at Rs1,538, and monthly salary at Rs40,000.
The new rates are effective immediately and will apply to all daily wage earners employed under the provincial administration and related departments.
Govt initiative to support labour force
The Punjab government had announced the salary increase a few days ago, aiming to address inflationary pressures and improve the livelihood of low-income workers.
Officials stated that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring fair compensation and maintaining labor welfare standards across the province. The revision aligns with broader economic policies designed to help workers cope with rising living costs.
