Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has paid tribute to the people of Lahore for ensuring full compliance with safety standard operating procedures during Basant celebrations.
In her message, the chief minister said she was pleased that Lahorites had upheld the trust placed in them. She expressed happiness that, by following the prescribed rules and regulations, citizens played a key role in celebrating a safe Basant. She added that the concept of a joyful yet secure Basant was fully embraced, with families enjoying traditional food while kites filled the sky in spirited competition, reflecting the true essence of the festival.
CM Maryam said no reports were received regarding the use of banned kite strings, adding that only approved sizes and materials were used. She said Basant was celebrated safely on rooftops in line with SOPs, and due to the absence of metallic wire, power transformers also remained protected.
She added that the model of a safe Basant would be adopted in other cities after Lahore. She said that 200 Clinics on Wheels and 21 field hospitals were deployed across all areas, including Liberty and the Walled City. She noted that Sunday marked the final day of the Basant festival and urged the public to continue exercising caution.
