Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed on Friday the investment agreements worth more than $440 million between Pakistani and Chinese industries.
Addressing the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical B2B Conference in Islamabad, the prime minister said it was a pleasure to attend the event and welcomed the agreements signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies.
He said China is Pakistan's trusted and sincere partner and has stood by the country in difficult times. He added that his recent visit to China was successful and that the latest investment is another important step towards the development of CPEC Phase II.
Over $30bn invested in Pakistan under first phase of CPEC
The prime minister said more than $30 billion has been invested in Pakistan under the first phase of CPEC. He added that China has consistently supported Pakistan's position at international forums and has become a leading global economic and strategic power under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.
PM Shehbaz says regional crisis affected wider world
Speaking at the conference, the prime minister said the recent regional crisis affected not only the region but also the wider world. He said Pakistan played an important role in promoting peace in the region and that the Islamabad Memorandum was signed through Pakistan's mediation.
He added that Pakistan facilitated mediation between Iran and the United States and said China fully supported Pakistan's mediation efforts.
