Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has canceled the province's Basant festival celebrations, including the event at Liberty Chowk in Lahore, following a major bomb blast incident in Rawalpindi.
In her message, she said the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and is united against extremists.

Authorities reported that a suicide bombing occurred at a mosque in Rawalpindi during Friday prayers. Police and security agencies are conducting operations in the area, and officials stated that the attacker was affiliated with the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij.
District administration sources confirmed that 31 people were killed in the blast and 169 injured were admitted to hospitals. The attacker reportedly detonated explosives after being stopped at the mosque gate, killing himself in the process.
