Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the United States delegation had been made to understand that there was no path other than negotiations.
Addressing a ceremony in Tehran, Araghchi said Iran’s real nuclear weapon was its ability to refuse pressure from global powers. He said Iran was prepared for war but gave priority to diplomacy based on reason and argument. He said talks would be productive if the rights of the Iranian people were recognised.
The Iranian foreign minister said the presence of US forces in the region did not intimidate Iran. He said if the language of force was used, Iran would respond with force. He added that it was more important for Iran to prove that it did not act on anyone’s instructions.
He said if the United States had objections on any issue, Iran was ready to address them.
