China and Saudi Arabia have both welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, terming it a vital step toward peace and stability in the region.
China also praised Türkiye and Qatar for mediating the truce and reiterated its willingness to play a constructive role in improving Pak-Afghan relations.
China welcomes ceasefire, offers to support peace efforts
Speaking at a press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan are traditional, friendly neighbours of China and will “always remain neighbours to each other.”
“China welcomes the ceasefire between the two nations and commends the contributions of the relevant countries,” he stated, referring to Türkiye and Qatar’s mediation in securing the agreement.
Guo expressed China’s hope that Pakistan and Afghanistan will continue to resolve their issues through dialogue and consultation, and that both sides will work together for comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.

“China stands ready to play a constructive role in improving and developing relations between the two countries,” he added.
Acknowledgment of mediating nations
China lauded Türkiye and Qatar for successfully facilitating the ceasefire, describing their diplomatic role as “commendable.” The Chinese spokesperson said that Beijing “hopes from the bottom of its heart” that the two countries achieve a lasting ceasefire and sustainable stability.

The ceasefire agreement, reached in Doha on Sunday, followed several days of deadly border clashes that had heightened tensions between Islamabad and Kabul. The next round of detailed talks between the two nations is scheduled to be held in Istanbul on October 25.
Saudi Arabia also welcomes ceasefire
The Saudi Foreign Ministry also issued a statement welcoming the Pakistan-Afghanistan ceasefire, calling it a positive development for peace and stability in the region.
The ministry emphasized that the international community recognizes the international border between Pakistan and Afghanistan and expressed hope that the agreement will help end ongoing border tensions between the two countries.
Saudi Arabia’s statement echoed China’s sentiments, supporting dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation as the path forward for long-term peace.
