Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee’s new Netflix film, Ghouskhor Pandit, has been removed from the streaming platform following an FIR and public criticism over its title.
The film, featuring Bajpayee in the lead, faced controversy because of its name, prompting director Neeraj Pandey to announce the temporary removal of all promotional material.
In an Instagram statement, Pandey clarified that the movie is a fictional police drama and that the term “Pandit” was used merely as a colloquial label for a fictional character.
He emphasized that the story focuses on an individual’s actions and choices and does not intend to represent or comment on any community, religion, or caste. Acknowledging that the title caused distress to some viewers, Pandey said the promotional content was removed out of respect for their sentiments.

“Films should be understood in their entirety, in the context of the story, rather than judged by a few scenes or clips,” he added.
Sharing Pandey’s statement on his X account, Manoj Bajpayee said he respects the concerns and emotions expressed by the public.

He added that when involved in a project that causes discomfort to some, it is important to pause, listen, and connect with the story through the character.
