The Pakistani military on Friday night alleged that India has begun targeting its own population with ballistic missiles, in what it described as a dangerous and irrational escalation amid ongoing regional tensions.
Addressing a media briefing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry claimed that India fired six ballistic missiles from its Adampur base in the Indian Punjab district of Jalandhar, one of which was shot down within Adampur, while the remaining five landed in Amritsar.
He further said Pakistan has electronic evidence of India firing missiles into its own territory. He said that by targeting Sikhs in Punjab, India wants to create hatred among Sikhs against Pakistan. "Earlier, on the night of May 7-8 also, India fired three missiles at Amritsar."
“This reckless action is a clear indication of internal instability in India,” said the ISPR DG remarked. “The Indian government is now endangering its own citizens and infrastructure under the guise of cross-border aggression.”
Lt Gen Chaudhry specifically pointed to the Sikh-majority region of Indian Punjab as the target, stating that India's own minorities are falling victim to its internal conspiracies.
“India is deliberately targeting the Sikh community in Amritsar. This isn’t an accident—it’s a continuation of the state’s discriminatory and suppressive approach toward its minorities,” he said. “All our sympathies are with the Sikh community, which continues to face state-backed persecution.”
The military spokesperson termed the move as “irrational and extremely dangerous,” warning that India’s aggressive behaviour could spiral into a broader regional crisis if left unchecked.
