Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, the visit is expected to include key meetings and the signing of agreements across various sectors. The Uzbek president’s aircraft landed at Nur Khan Air Base, where President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accorded him a warm welcome. During the reception ceremony, children dressed in traditional attire presented bouquets to the visiting dignitary.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan, senior civil and military officials, and members of the diplomatic corps were also present. President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold an important meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his stay.
Pakistan and Uzbekistan will hold detailed discussions on bilateral relations, trade, investment, regional connectivity, energy, transport, and other areas of mutual cooperation. Several memoranda of understanding and agreements between the two countries are expected to be signed. The Uzbek president will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari separately, with regional developments and issues of mutual interest on the agenda.
