More than 500,000 vehicles are expected to enter Lahore during the Basant festival, prompting the formation of special patrolling teams.
Authorities estimated that hundreds of thousands of vehicles will enter the city during the three-day Basant festival in Lahore. A total of 10,000 police personnel and 2,500 traffic w ardens will be deployed. The chief traffic officer has invited people from across Pakistan to celebrate Basant in Lahore.
In addition to monitoring the city’s entry points, live surveillance will be carried out in the Red Zone through Safe City cameras. Traffic arrangements have been finalised.
Chief Traffic Officer Athar Waheed stated that additional personnel will be deployed at entry and exit points of the city, while cameras will be installed and made operational on rooftops in the Red Zone for live monitoring.
Operation Commander SP Muhammad Shafiq, said that joint teams from 15 departments, including rescue services and police, will remain active to ensure strict implementation of standard operating procedures.
Officials said that if citizens comply with the law, the Basant festival will continue on a permanent basis.
