The Punjab government has announced a public holiday across the province on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
A notification regarding the public holiday in Punjab on February 5 has been issued. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said that Kashmir Day would be observed in the province on February 5 and events would be organised to mark the day.
It is worth noting that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a long weekend in the province. In her statement, she said that February 5 would be observed as Kashmir Day in Punjab, February 6 would be a provincial holiday for Basant, and the weekend would make for an extended break.
Earlier, the federal government announced a public holiday across the country on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day. The federal government’s notification said that February 5, 2026 would be a public holiday across the country on the occasion of Kashmir Day.
Kashmir Day is observed every year in Pakistan to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Special events, seminars, rallies and prayer gatherings are held across the country on this day to reaffirm support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
