Mahira Khan, the beloved superstar of Pakistan, has long charmed audiences with her work in hit dramas and films.
As she gears up for her big-screen return this Eid ul Adha with Love Guru—starring alongside Humayun Saeed—Mahira has been making the media rounds, sharing snippets of her life and career.
In a recent appearance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Mahira opened up about a deeply personal aspect of her life: her parents’ troubled marriage.
Known for speaking fondly of her family—especially her brother, son, husband, and extended family—Mahira described how her childhood was a mix of joy and shadows. She shared that while she had many happy memories, there was an undeniable darkness stemming from her parents’ rocky relationship.
“My parents were two very different individuals,” Mahira revealed. “They had very different ideas about life, and that obviously led to many clashes.” Despite this, Mahira and her brother, Hissan Khan, always stuck together. “Whenever there was something difficult, we would huddle together,” she said, emphasizing how their bond became their source of strength.
Describing her upbringing as “dysfunctional,” Mahira admitted, “I hate talking about this because I’m also sharing other people’s problems. But I can now say that my parents were diametrically apart and their marriage was not happy.”
