The Punjab government has taken a significant step in the health sector by deciding to outsource the ‘Clinic on Wheels’ project.
According to details surfaced on Monday, the Punjab Health Department has formally initiated the process to outsource the administrative management of the project, field mobile health units, and rural ambulance services.
The administrative affairs of the project will be handed over to the private sector, while field mobile health units and rural ambulance services will also be operated by private organisations. Applications from private institutions have been invited by January 26.
Moreover, the health department said that 590 rural ambulances, 791 ‘Clinic on Wheels’ units, and 111 field mobile health units will be outsourced.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said that the involvement of the private sector will bring marked improvement in the performance of these projects.
