The sound system act will be relaxed in Lahore on the occasion of the Basant festival.
According to details reported on Monday, preparations for Basant in Lahore have reached an advanced stage. Arrangements are underway to decorate the city in traditional yellow colours. Registration of kite sellers, manufacturers and traders is in progress through the e-Biz portal.
An e-Biz portal report said that a total of 993 applications were received. Of these, 650 were approved, 58 were rejected, while field verification of 284 applications is ongoing. For the sale of kites and string, 340 out of 530 applications were approved. Permission has been granted to 218 kite makers for the manufacture of kites and string.
The administration said that 23 major roads in Lahore will be decorated for Basant. These included Ravi Toll Plaza, GT Road, Pine Avenue, Niazi Interchange, Azadi Chowk, Circular Garden, Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Shadman and MM Alam Road, along with other key thoroughfares.
According to the administration, registered kite and string manufacturers were allowed to begin preparations from December 30, while kite sellers have been permitted to start sales from February 1.
