Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that the government’s economic reforms aim to lay the foundation for an export-oriented economy,
The premier met scholars of the Uraan Overseas Pakistan Summer Scholars Programme in Islamabad. The scholars are completing a six-week research internship under the Ministry of Planning.
The prime minister welcomed the decision to provide internship opportunities for Pakistani students studying at leading universities around the world. He said young people have a vital role in the country's development and added that Pakistani students continue to bring honour to the nation across the globe.
Addressing the scholars, the prime minister said they should use their education, research and international experience for the country's progress and prosperity.
Premier credits economic reforms for achieving stability
He said emergency economic reforms had helped achieve stability. He added that the reforms include the promotion of renewable energy and measures for sustainable economic growth. He said the government's economic reforms are intended to build the foundation of an export-based economy.
The prime minister said Pakistan defeated India with the leadership of the Field Marshal and the full support of the nation. He added that Pakistan's mediation in helping to stop the conflict between the United States and Iran is an important chapter in diplomatic history. He said a memorandum of understanding was signed in Islamabad, terming it as a significant step for global peace.
