Renowned Pakistani television actress Saba Faisal, known for portraying some of the most iconic mother roles in dramas, has stirred controversy with her recent remarks about the rising divorce rate in Pakistan.
During her appearance on a show, the veteran star shared her perspective on modern relationships, and her remarks have ignited a heated debate online.
Saba Faisal stated that one of the key reasons marriages are falling apart today is that “women have started competing with their men.” She elaborated, saying that men have been given a particular position by Allah, and trying to challenge that natural order creates an imbalance in a marriage. “There is no competition between men and women because men are naturally superior,” she said. According to her, the growing trend of competition leads to relationship breakdowns and ultimately divorce.
However, Saba did emphasize that mutual balance is necessary between both partners to sustain a healthy marriage.
Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions online. While some agreed with her traditional perspective, many social media users called out the gender bias and questioned the idea of male superiority in modern society.
Saba Faisal also talked about her strong social media presence. She shared that she has always received immense love from her Instagram followers and enjoys engaging with fans, especially since her family lives in Lahore and she works in Karachi. The only time she faced backlash, she admitted, was when she posted about a personal conflict with her daughter-in-law — a moment she now considers a mistake.
