All-round Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakravarthy (3-7) and Ishan Kishan’s blistering 24-ball 61 powered India to a 93-run victory over Namibia in Delhi, despite captain Gerhard Erasmus’s all-round performance in the 18th match of the T20 World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday.
India will take confidence from the result ahead of their high-octane clash with arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday, February 15. Pakistan, meanwhile, remain confident after victories over the Netherlands and the USA.
Chakravarthy claimed three wickets in his first ten balls, restricting Namibia to 116 all out in 18.2 overs after India posted 209 for nine in their 20 overs. Hardik Pandya struck 52 off 28 balls and Suryakumar Yadav contributed 12, while Sanju Samson made 22 and Tilak Varma 25.
For Namibia, Erasmus top-scored with 18 and also took four wickets, while Louren Steenkamp made 29 and Jan Frylinck 22.
India’s bowlers kept Namibia under pressure throughout, with Pandya taking two wickets, Axar Patel two, Jasprit Bumrah one, and Shivam Dube one.
