King Charles has advised his eldest son - Prince William, to place family above royal obligations - marking a notable shift in the traditional approach of the British monarchy.
The monarchy has faced a series of transformative events in recent years, including the much-publicised Megxit, the passing of King Charles's parents — Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip — and now the health battle of the future Queen Consort, Kate Middleton, who is reportedly undergoing cancer treatment.
Amid these challenges, Prince William has been observed prioritising his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — over his official duties.
This decision, according to a new Channel 5 documentary William and Catherine: Putting Family First, has been met with full support from King Charles himself.
Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, shared insights in the documentary, revealing King Charles’s candid advice to his son: “Please don’t make the mistake that I made. I want you to enjoy your family life.”
Mr. Seward added, “Charles was very insistent about this because he said, ‘I was so dedicated to duty, I could not make way for family life in the way that I should have done, and that’s what William did.’”
This touching exchange between father and son reflects a generational shift within the monarchy, signalling a departure from rigid formalities and an increased emphasis on personal life and wellbeing.
