The Department of Human Resources in Sharjah has officially declared January 1, 2024, as the New Year's holiday for all government departments, bodies, and institutions in the emirate. Consequently, government employees in Sharjah will enjoy a four-day weekend, with official working hours set to resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
As per Khaleej Times, the latest announcement follows the earlier announcement by the federal government and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation that January 1 will be a holiday for employees across both public and private sectors, providing a three-day weekend for the majority of the country's workforce.
The Dubai authority has also confirmed a New Year's paid holiday for its government sector, marking January 1, 2024, as a day off for government employees in the emirate.
