The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert regarding severe cold conditions until 16 January.
According to details surfaced on Sunday, the PDMA has circulated a notification to the departments of tourism, education, health, agriculture, local government, forestry and other relevant bodies. According to the authority, there is a likelihood of severe cold along with snowfall in Rawalpindi, Murree, the Galiyat and the Potohar region. An increase in fog and smog conditions is also expected.
Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that educational institutions should issue instructions to students regarding appropriate winter clothing. He said that suitable measures should be in place in classrooms to protect against the cold. He said that all hospitals and health centres should ensure the availability of medicines and staff.
