Pakistan and the United States have commenced their 13th bilateral joint military exercise, Inspired Gambit 2026, aimed at strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation and operational readiness between the two armies.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the exercise began on January 9 at the National Counter Terrorism Centre. The two-week-long drill is being conducted in the counter-terrorism (CT) domain.
Professional contingents from the Pakistan Army and the United States Army are taking part in the exercise. Military officials from both countries attended the opening ceremony, marking the formal start of the joint training.
Counter-terrorism skills and tactics
ISPR stated that the primary aim of Inspired Gambit 2026 is to enhance mutual understanding through the exchange of counter-terrorism experiences. The exercise seeks to further refine tactics, techniques and procedures required for effective CT operations.
Special emphasis is being placed on coordination during combat operations in urban environments. The training also includes intensive marksmanship drills and a focus on understanding each other’s operational doctrines and best practices.
Addressing evolving security challenges
ISPR highlighted that such joint training exercises play a vital role in responding to changing security challenges. They help improve professional military standards and strengthen the ability of forces to operate in complex and sophisticated counter-terrorism environments.
Inspired Gambit 2026 reflects the ongoing defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
According to ISPR, the exercise underscores the shared commitment of both countries towards collaborative efforts for regional and global peace and stability.
