Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif on Friday met with party workers in London, where he expressed strong confidence in the current leadership of Pakistan and praised recent developments in governance, economy, and regional security.
Addressing the PML-N workers after offering Eid-al-Adha prayers, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan is finally heading in the right direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He credited his younger brother for achieving significant improvements in the economy and stabilizing the country during a period of crisis.
“Under Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan won the war,” said Nawaz Sharif, referring to recent cross-border tensions with India. He went on to praise Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, calling him “worthy of the rank of field marshal” for his role in countering Indian aggression. “His excellent war strategy led to our victory,” he added.
Nawaz Sharif also applauded the performance of the Punjab government under his daughter, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, saying she had launched several new public welfare projects and was “working tirelessly for the betterment of the people.”
He pointed to the recent by-election victory in Sambrial as proof of the public’s continued trust in the PML-N leadership. “The large-margin victory in Sambrial reflects the people’s confidence in our government and its policies,” he said.
