Five police personnel, including four officers, were martyred when their vehicle plunged into a deep ravine near the tourist area of Toli Peer, located at the junction of Poonch and Bagh districts in Azad Kashmir.
According to Poonch Division Commissioner Masood-ur-Rehman, the police vehicle was travelling from Haveli district to Rawalakot when it met with the accident between Lasdana and Toli Peer, at a location known as Cross. The vehicle reportedly veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge. Three inspectors, one sub-inspector, and one constable died on the spot. Their bodies have been shifted to CMH Rawalakot. The cause of the accident remains unknown at this stage.
Azad Kashmir PM expresses grief over loss of police officers
The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of five police officers.
He has directed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Poonch Division to initiate an immediate inquiry into the incident.
The Prime Minister also offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs.
In addition, he instructed the local administration to carry out rescue and relief operations without delay.
Following special instructions from the Prime Minister, the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police promptly reached the accident site.
