The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked 16 Indian news channels, 31 YouTube video links, and more than 20 websites for spreading false information and propaganda against Pakistan.
This action is believed to be what officials describe as a move to safeguard national security amid escalating regional tensions.
According to a PTA spokesperson, the decision comes in response to the continued circulation of disinformation and anti-Pakistan narratives by Indian digital platforms. The blocked channels and websites were found to be actively involved in disseminating misleading content aimed at damaging Pakistan’s national image and stirring unrest.
“These actions are part of our commitment to ensuring responsible use of digital platforms,” the PTA spokesperson said. “In the context of the current regional situation, we are taking necessary measures to protect national security and public order.”

“Strict action will continue to be taken against any online content that endangers national interests,” the spokesperson added, noting that monitoring of digital content will remain ongoing to combat propaganda and disinformation campaigns.
Also on Wednesday, Pakistan officially lifted the ban on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), as part of its strategy to actively participate in the "narrative war" amid rising tensions with India.
The decision was confirmed during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications, chaired by Senator Palwasha Khan. The chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) informed the committee about the restoration of the platform.
Senator Palwasha Khan praised the move, stating, “I pay tribute to the Chairman PTA for opening X. We have to give a full and effective response in the narrative war with India. The entire nation is responding to Indian trolls on X.”
