Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium is set to host international cricket once again after 17 years, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has scheduled the opening two matches of the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh at the venue, starting from May 25.
According to details, this will mark a significant return to international action for the stadium, which last hosted T20I matches in 2008—also featuring Pakistan and Bangladesh. The announcement has generated considerable excitement among local fans, who are eager to witness their favourite cricketers in action once more.
In preparation for the series, the PCB has undertaken extensive renovations at the stadium. Upgrades include refurbished broadcasting facilities, newly installed seating and modernised dressing rooms. The pitches are being prepared using specially sourced soil from Nandipur to ensure optimal playing conditions.
Local cricket enthusiasts have expressed their anticipation. One fan said, “We’re counting the days until Faisalabad hosts the matches against Bangladesh.”
