Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar claimed that the 2018’s government had compromised with terrorism, leading to the return of 35,000 to 40,000 militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to Pakistan.
He was talking to the Pakistani community in New York City (NYC) the other day.
Dar remarked that terrorism had resurfaced in the country as a result of these decisions.
Addressing the current situation, Dar emphasized that tough decisions had been made to safeguard the country and reshape its dire economic situation.
He stated, “It was not easy to climb out of such a deep economic pit.” However, he pointed out that Pakistan had moved out of its diplomatic isolation, and international recognition of the country's improving economy was growing. He added that the policy rate had dropped from 22% to 12%, foreign exchange reserves had increased, and exports were on the rise.
Furthermore, Dar highlighted that global rating agencies had praised Pakistan’s economic reforms. He reassured that Pakistan’s economic recovery was now being recognized globally.
In a separate address at an OIC meeting in New York, Dar expressed grave concern over the presence of terrorist groups on Afghan soil, particularly the Khorasan factions that continue to launch attacks on Pakistan. He assured that Pakistan would continue its operations against these terrorist groups.
Dar also called for diplomatic efforts to ensure the implementation of ceasefire agreements in Gaza and stressed the importance of measures to halt Israeli aggression. He reiterated the demand for the resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions.
On regional issues, he emphasized the need to protect Syria’s sovereignty and expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Dar also voiced his concerns over Israeli threats to attack Iran, reiterating the importance of restoring the nuclear agreement for stability in the Middle East.
