Adviser to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Tuesday that there was no chance of holding backdoor talks under the current establishment.
Speaking on Samaa TV programme “Nadeem Malik Live”, Sanaullah said: “The judicial commission cannot be formed without the approval of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi.”
Sanaullah said: “The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has no option but to go for the negotiations. Not today, but the PTI will have to go for the talks with the government in the forthcoming time.”
“The political negotiations will only take place on the front,” said Sanaullah.
Commenting on the recent visit of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Sanaullah said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) may not have talked about the visit of Mohsin Naqvi to the United States.”
“Mohsin Naqvi had visited the US personally, not at the state level,” said Sanaullah.
He said, “The army chief had conducted the meeting in line with the law and order. There is a possibility that the army chief will hold more meetings.”
Talking about the judicial commission, Sanaullah stated: “How will the trial proceed if the Supreme Court judges start to investigate the cases?”
“The judicial commission cannot conduct the investigation,” said Sanaullah.
“The PTI has issued an order for us. It is not our responsibility to follow the order,” he stated.
He said: “The PTI leaders have not attended the meeting. It is merely the decision of PTI to end the talks.”
“The PTI would have had to listen to us [government] today,” he added.
Sanaullah said: “We will look to restart the negotiations in the forthcoming days.”
“The PTI leaders had said that January 31 was the day of the party’s [PTI] deadline. Subsequently, the PTI asked the government to submit the response within seven days,” he said.
