Dr. Raman Sharma, a Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon, said “There is no such cream that forms a protective layer on the skin to shield you from the cold. While moisturizers can help prevent dryness, they don’t work to keep the cold out."
According to Dr. Sharma, claims made by products marketed as winter-warming creams should be taken with caution. He added, "Applying sunscreen also does not offer any protection from cold temperatures."
Health experts emphasize that the best defence against cold weather is proper attire. Wearing warm clothes and ensuring adequate nutrition to keep your body temperature stable are the most effective ways to stay comfortable during chilly winter months.
So, while moisturizing your skin remains important to avoid dryness, don’t be fooled into thinking a cream can protect you from the cold. Stay warm with the right clothing, and keep your skin moisturized with a suitable cream to fight off winter dryness.
