International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has praised the economic reform efforts of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government.
Addressing the World Economic Forum, Georgieva spoke highly of the prime minister’s approach to economic management and reform. She said she holds Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in deep respect and termed him as serious about bringing positive change and development to Pakistan. She added that once he commits to a task, he sees it through to completion.

Providing details, the IMF managing director said she has held several meetings with the prime minister. These meetings focused on achieving pre-agreed targets as well as setting more development goals. She said the seriousness shown by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet towards Pakistan’s development, and the implementation of a difficult reform agenda for the country’s improvement, is highly commendable.
Georgieva said the IMF has been working with Pakistan in a positive manner for a considerable period. She maintained that the Pakistani government is embracing reforms with seriousness and that the positive outcomes of these measures have begun to emerge. She said budgetary discipline has been observed for the first time, and resources are being spent to bring positive change to the lives of the people.
