Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, briefed the UN Security Council on the grave issue of enforced disappearances in Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the session, Ambassador Ahmad highlighted that the situation has become increasingly dire, with India using recent acts of terrorism as a pretext to detain more than 2,000 Kashmiris.
He revealed that in recent years, thousands of unmarked and unidentified graves have been discovered across the region, pointing to widespread human rights violations by Indian forces.
Ambassador Ahmad alleged that Indian troops routinely abduct Kashmiris, subject them to torture, and subsequently kill them.
He further informed the international community that India continues to avoid forensic investigations of over 7,000 mass graves found in occupied Kashmir, raising serious concerns about accountability.
Ambassador Ahmad accused India of using state force to crush the Kashmiri people's legitimate struggle for self-determination. He reiterated that the issue of enforced disappearances has now reached the level of a humanitarian tragedy in the region.
