In his first address to followers since becoming the new leader of the Catholic Christian community, Pope Leo delivered a powerful message calling for global peace.
Speaking from Vatican City, the Pope expressed grave concern over the current state of international relations, declaring that the world was on the brink of World War III.
"I appeal to the whole world, let there be no more war," Pope Leo said, emphasizing the need for dialogue and reconciliation to avert further conflict. His remarks reflect his commitment to peacebuilding during these uncertain times.
One of the key highlights of the Pope’s address was his warm welcome of the ceasefire between Pakistan and India. The Pope praised both nations for their decision to end hostilities and expressed hope that this ceasefire would pave the way for a lasting peace.
"I welcome the announcement of a ceasefire between Pakistan and India," he said, emphasizing that this moment of calm should be used as a foundation for long-term negotiations.
Further extending his call for peace, Pope Leo also urged for resolution in other conflict-ridden areas, specifically mentioning Ukraine, Russia, and Gaza.
"There should now be peace in Ukraine, Russia, and Gaza too," he stated, highlighting the Pope’s broader vision for peace that spans beyond the subcontinent.
