The Pakistani film industry is mourning the loss of one of its seasoned scriptwriters, Muhammad Kamal Pasha, who passed away after a prolonged illness.
He was undergoing treatment at a local hospital, his family confirmed on Saturday.
Muhammad Kamal Pasha, known for his significant contributions to Lollywood, was the son of legendary film writer and director Anwar Kamal Pasha – a pioneering figure in Pakistan’s cinematic history.

With a career spanning decades, Kamal Pasha wrote scripts for over 300 films. Some of his most notable works include 'Nikki Jai Haan', 'Raqasa', and 'Humayun Gujjar'.
Back in March, the Punjab government had presented Rs500,000 to the film writer for his medical treatment at Services Hospital, Lahore, after he had appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Punjab Information Secretary Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani had visited the writer at the hospital and presented him the Rs500,000 cheque and a bouquet.
Colleagues and fans from across the country are paying tribute to the late writer, remembering him as a humble, creative force behind the golden era of Pakistani cinema.
