Just hours after a ceasefire agreement was officially announced between Pakistan and India, fresh violations were reported along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to local authorities, the Indian Army opened unprovoked fire and launched shelling in the Rawalakot and Bhimber sectors of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Police officials in Rawalakot confirmed that at least two civilians were injured during the firing.
The Foreign Office has taken serious notice of the incident. An FO spokesperson said, “Yes, there have been violations by India in some areas despite the ceasefire. However, our forces are handling the situation with responsibility and restraint.”
The spokesperson reiterated that both countries had agreed to the ceasefire and Pakistan is committed to implementing the agreement in good faith. “The ceasefire has just been announced, and it is vital that forces on the ground also act with restraint and maturity,” the spokesperson added.

Earlier on Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” following a night of U.S.-mediated negotiations between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Taking to his social media platform, Mr Trump said: “After a long night of U.S.-mediated talks, India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both countries for choosing Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad following a series of cross-border missile exchanges that led to heavy casualties and widespread damage to military infrastructure on both sides.
