In the 248th meeting of the Pakistan Bar Council, Muhammad Masood Chishti was elected vice-chairman for 2026, securing 15 votes in a secret ballot, while Muneer Ahmad Malik from Karachi was elected Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council.
The meeting, held in Islamabad, was presided over by Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan in his role as Chairman. During the session, a secret ballot was conducted for the Vice Chairman position.
According to an official statement by the Pakistan Bar Council, Muhammad Masood Chishti received 15 votes, defeating Qazi Muhammad Arshad, who garnered 8 votes. Muneer Ahmad Malik was elected as Chairman of the Executive Committee from Karachi.
The statement also condemned the smear campaign against judges of the Lahore and Islamabad High Courts and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to continue its struggle for judicial independence, upholding the Constitution, and the rule of law.
