The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken decisive action by summoning the heads of various political parties to address issues related to election regulations.
The move comes in response to concerns regarding the failure to allocate 5% of general election tickets to women and other related violations.
On September 4, the ECP has issued summons to prominent political figures from 12 parties, including Akhtar Mengal, Asfandyar Wali, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, TLP chief Saad Rizvi, and Awami Tehreek leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. These notices are part of an inquiry into non-compliance with electoral norms.
Additionally, the ECP has issued a notice to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan (JUI-P) for failing to conduct intra-party elections as required by electoral regulations.
JUI leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been summoned to appear before the election commission tomorrow at 10am. The hearing will be conducted by a four-member commission led by Nisar Durrani.
The JUI has been criticized for not completing its intra-party elections and for failing to submit the necessary certification to the ECP. This issue highlights ongoing concerns about transparency and adherence to electoral procedures.
