The Ramazan moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar and the first fast will be observed on Wednesday, February 18.
A large meeting for the sighting of the crescent was held at Hautat Sudair. Seven other meetings were also convened across the Kingdom, attended by experts from the departments of meteorology and astronomy.
Saudi media reported that modern technology was used for the first time in the Kingdom for the sighting of the Ramazan moon.
According to Saudi media, the crescent has been sighted and Wednesday, 18 February 2026, will mark 1 Ramazan 1447 Hijri. The Saudi Supreme Court announced the sighting of the Ramazan moon.
In Malaysia and Turkiye, however, the moon was not sighted and 19 February has been declared as 1 Ramazan. Singapore, Brunei, Australia and Oman will also begin Ramazan on 19 February.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for the moon sighting will be held in Peshawar on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Suparco said there is a likelihood that Ramazan 1 will fall on February 19, 2026 in Pakistan.
