After Pakistan’s defeat to India in the ICC T20 World Cup group stage, major changes are likely in the national team’s T20 squad, with some big names potentially facing the axe.
According to sources, the team management has begun to lose confidence in senior players following the loss to India. Serious concerns were raised about their performances during the post-match meeting.
Former cricketers and social media users have also questioned the recent form of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Shadab Khan. The team management is reportedly considering placing Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi on the bench and testing the squad’s bench strength in the upcoming match against Namibia.

Sources say Fakhar Zaman and Khawaja Nafay are being considered as possible replacements for Babar Azam, while Salman Mirza and Naseem Shah are in contention to replace Shaheen Afridi.
Pakistan is expected to make two to three changes in its final group-stage match against Namibia. A victory in that match will secure Pakistan’s qualification for the Super 8 round.
It is worth noting that Babar Azam has scored a total of 66 runs in three World Cup matches, including an innings of 46 against the USA. Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi has taken just three wickets in three matches so far in the tournament.
