The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced on Monday the final 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which the country will co-host with India from 7 February to 8 March.
All-rounder Dasun Shanaka will lead the 2014 T20 World Cup winners in the 20-team tournament, with the squad also featuring experienced players such as Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka.
Former captain Wanindu Hasaranga will strengthen Sri Lanka’s all-rounder ranks, which also include Kamindu Mendis and Dunith Wellalage, while the pace attack comprises Dushmantha Chameera and Matheesha Pathirana. Maheesh Theekshana is expected to provide a specialist spin option.
It is noteworthy that Sri Lanka, drawn in Group B, will begin their campaign here against Ireland on February 8 before travelling to Pallekele for their next two group-stage matches against Oman and Australia on February 12 and 16, respectively.
The co-hosts will return here for their final group-stage match against Zimbabwe on February 19.
Sri Lanka are currently engaged in a three-match home T20I series against England, which the tourists lead 2-0. The third and final fixture is scheduled for Tuesday.
