Punjab is set to enjoy a welcome four-day weekend as public holidays and the regular weekend align in early February, offering residents a much-needed break from routine life.
The extended weekend will begin with Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5, a nationwide public holiday observed to express support with the people of Kashmir.
This will be followed by a provincial Basant holiday on February 6, declared in view of the revival of Basant celebrations in Punjab. The break will then continue with Saturday and Sunday, giving citizens four consecutive days off.
Chief Minister post on X: "Punjab will enjoy a long weekend with Kashmir day on February 5, a provincial basant holiday on the 6th, followed by Saturday and Sunday.. We hope that people across Punjab take this time to relax, recharge and make the most of the break."

The long weekend is expected to bring a festive atmosphere across the province, particularly in Lahore and other major cities where Basant-related activities are being organized. After years of restrictions, Basant is gradually making a comeback with regulated kite-flying events, cultural programs, music, and traditional food festivals, adding color and vibrancy to the season.
Families are likely to use the opportunity for short trips, recreational outings, and social gatherings, while markets, parks, and entertainment spots are also expected to see increased footfall. Tourism and hospitality sectors may benefit as people look to relax and recharge during the extended break.
Authorities and organizers have urged the public to celebrate responsibly, follow safety guidelines, and avoid hazardous practices. The provincial government has expressed hope that people across Punjab will make the most of the four-day weekend, balancing relaxation with safe and enjoyable celebrations.
