Internal differences within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Gilgit-Baltistan have ended, and all factions have decided to move forward together in the upcoming elections.
In a meeting chaired by Federal Minister Engineer Amir Maqam, an understanding was reached between the Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman group and the Akbar Taban-Muhammad Anwar group.
Addressing the meeting, Federal Minister Amir Maqam said that PML-N was one party and would contest the elections united under the leadership of party president Nawaz Sharif. He said the party tickets would be issued on merit and that all differences had been completely resolved.
He added that he considered himself part of the party team in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman said they were on the same page and would move forward with Nawaz Sharif’s vision. General Secretary Akbar Taban said their intentions were clear and that they were united in complete agreement and harmony.
A large number of party leaders attended the meeting, including former minister Muhammad Anwar.
Earlier, Engineer Amir Maqam held separate meetings with both factions, and after the meeting, at the federal minister’s request, both groups embraced each other.
