Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that the recent unrest in Iran was a conspiracy by Israel and the United States.
In a statement issued on the social media, Khamenei said that the CIA and Mossad had been fomenting rebellion in the country, adding that the Iranian forces thwarted the CIA and Mossad plot.
Khamenei said: "The aim of the conspiracy was to harm the government and its institutions. The planning and supervision of spreading unrest in Iran were carried out from abroad."
"The United States created ISIS; the recent rebellion aimed to destabilise Iran’s security. Iranian traders also understood the enemy’s plot and distanced themselves, Khamenei added.
