Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Monday that the name of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan did not come up during the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
Speaking to Samaa TV, Tarar said the prime minister had been stating for some time that matters relating to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be discussed. He added that the KP chief minister requested a meeting, after which the prime minister extended an invitation.
Tarar said no political discussion took place during the meeting, nor was PTI founder Imran Khan mentioned. He said the discussion remained focused on provincial issues and that political matters were not part of the meeting.
According to the information minister, the prime minister said the chief minister held a constitutional mandate and that the mandate also carried responsibility. He said the prime minister stressed the need to focus on health, education, infrastructure and law and order.
Tarar said the federal government would extend full cooperation where required, while the province also had its own responsibilities.
