A deadly terrorist attack targeted the police checkpost at the New Sabzi Mandi in Bannu, resulting in the martyrdom of two police personnel, while another officer sustained injuries.
According to the police spokesperson, the attackers detonated explosives at the main gate of the checkpost, completely destroying the entrance.
Following the blast, the terrorists stormed inside and engaged in heavy gunfire with the police.
The explosion caused a power transformer installed at the checkpost to fall, resulting in a complete power outage in the New Sabzi Mandi area.
The attack caused significant destruction inside the police post, and nearby shops also suffered damages, with glass panels and signboards shattered by the gunfire and shockwaves.
Security forces later arrived at the scene, and a search operation is underway.
