The Modi government has continued its censorship and crackdown on journalism following the Pahalgam false flag operation, further restricting press freedom in India.
Since coming to power, Prime Minister Modi has sought to silence journalistic voices critical of his administration. According to sources, journalists reporting on Kashmir are routinely entangled in fabricated legal cases to intimidate and silence them.
Reporters Without Borders reports that India has fallen to 151st place in the global press freedom index. The report highlights that voices critical of the Modi government face severe legal consequences under stringent laws like the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
Sources confirm that the Modi administration has conducted raids on independent media organizations including The Wire and BBC. International human rights organizations including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have raised serious questions about Modi's media policies.
In Modi's India, media freedom has been reduced to an empty claim, with systematic efforts to control the narrative and suppress independent journalism.
