Advisor to prime minister Rana Sanaullah said on Sunday that if the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had not been subtracted in 2017, Pakistan would now be among the G20 countries.
Speaking to media in Faisalabad, the PML-N stalwart stated: "The current economic crisis and inflation in the country were not their responsibility. The inauguration of the Rescue Office symbolised the politics of service."
He pointed out that Faisalabad, once referred to as a village, had been transformed into a city by the PML-N. He also credited the party for the development of roads, hospitals, motorways, and universities in the city.
Taking a jibe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sanaullah stated, “The politics of insulting each other started in 2017. We were the 30th largest economy in the world, and it was brought to the brink of default.”
He condemned the politics of abuse, protests, and anarchy that continued, emphasising that there was no room for such politics in the country. He reiterated that Pakistan was founded on the principles of brotherhood, not hatred.
Referring to the November 26 protests, Sanaullah claimed no one from Punjab had participated.
He added, "People in Punjab favoured politics of service over chaos." He criticised the leaders who brought people to the protests, stating that when they fled, there was no need for violence.
On social media reactions to the incident, Sanaullah asserted that their own platform had been detrimental.
He also recalled an incident in 2019, where claims of 278 deaths during a clash in Nankana were later revised to just 12, calling it misleading.
Sanaullah lavished his praise on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for focusing on serving the common people.
He hoped that the issue with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would be resolved in the upcoming meeting.
