Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo strongly criticized US President Donald Trump as the 'worst human in the world' during his red carpet appearance at the Golden Globe Awards, highlighting ongoing political and human rights issues in the United States.
Ruffalo, a nominee for his performance in the HBO drama Task, wore a 'Be Good' pin in memory of 37‑year‑old Renee Nicole Good, who was recently shot and killed by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Minneapolis - an incident that has sparked nationwide protests and outrage.
Speaking to the media, Ruffalo said he could not celebrate amid the troubling events unfolding in the country. He condemned President Trump’s policies and drew attention to what he described as violations of international law and the fear felt by many Americans today. The 'Be Good' pin, he explained, was worn in honour of Good and others living in fear and terror in the United States.
Ruffalo stressed that his criticism did not reflect a lack of love for his country, but rather that the current state of affairs did not represent the America he believes in.
Several other actors at the event also participated in the protest by wearing pins with messages such as 'Be Good' or 'ICE Out' to draw attention to human rights concerns and ongoing debates over immigration enforcement in the US.
