Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes against India prompted the international community to intervene.
In an interview with CNN, Dar revealed that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called him, saying, “India is ready for a ceasefire. If you also stop, this can be resolved.”
Dar said he responded by giving his word, stating, “If India does not resume hostilities, we won’t either.”
He further stated that Pakistan waited three days after India launched missiles before responding, emphasizing that the core issue destabilizing the region remains Kashmir.
He warned that prolonging unresolved issues is dangerous and reiterated that if India revokes the Indus Waters Treaty or diverts or blocks Pakistan’s water, it would be considered an act of war.
Dar also said that India has now realized the damage it suffered in the aerial engagements, and added, “We want to move forward with dialogue—on both sides—with dignity and respect.”
