The Indian forces launched four missile strikes on the Government Educational and Health Complex in Muridke, killing one and injuring several others, according to local authorities and rescue officials.
The attack, which took place late on Tuesday night, also destroyed a mosque located within the complex and damaged three nearby houses. A senior citizen, identified as Abdul Malik, was martyred in the assault, while two others remain missing and at least three individuals sustained injuries.
Abdul Malik, who served as a security staff member for the mosque within the complex, was critically injured during the missile strike in Nangal Sahdan and later succumbed to his wounds. His body was shifted to the THQ Hospital morgue in Muridke by rescue teams.
Civilian infrastructure targeted
Officials confirmed that the Government Educational and Health Complex -- home to hundreds of residential units, schools, madrasas, and hospitals -- has been under the management of the Punjab government since 2019.
"This was a deliberate assault on urban civilian infrastructure, including religious and public welfare institutions," a senior local official stated. "Such actions are a clear breach of international humanitarian laws and conventions."
The Pakistan Army has vowed to respond forcefully to ongoing Indian aggression, asserting that such attacks on civilian areas and places of worship will not go unanswered.
