As tensions between Pakistan and India continue to rise, the federal government has decided to convene a session of the National Assembly on May 5, with the possibility of tabling a resolution condemning India under serious consideration.
An important consultative meeting was held at the Parliament House, chaired by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. The meeting was attended by senior federal ministers, including Azam Nazir Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Barrister Aqeel Malik.
According to sources, the meeting reviewed the current political and security situation in light of recent cross-border developments and diplomatic friction with India.
Participants discussed Pakistan’s official narrative and parliamentary response, particularly in relation to recent Indian actions. A key focus of the meeting was the drafting of a resolution to condemn India, which may be introduced in the upcoming session.
Sources added that a joint session of parliament was also considered as part of a broader effort to showcase national unity on matters of foreign policy and defense.
The defense minister reportedly emphasized the need to build national consensus on issues of national security, including possible dialogue with opposition parties to ensure a united stance during this critical time.
Additionally, the meeting included discussions on legislative matters that could be brought forward during the session, including bills linked to national security.
