Following the controversial Pahalgam incident, international media outlets have begun highlighting a disturbing surge in anti-Muslim sentiment across India, pointing directly at the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling BJP.
According to sources, BJP leaders have allegedly incited violence against Muslims and endorsed the placement of blasphemous posters in mosques. Attacks and threats against Muslims have intensified particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Maharashtra.
In a shocking revelation, Al Jazeera reported that over 20 Islamophobic songs were released in India after the Pahalgam attack. The outlet also pointed to calls for an economic boycott of Muslims by BJP leader Nitesh Rane, alongside more than 21 reported incidents of anti-Muslim violence across the country.
Sources further claim that Muslim patients were denied treatment and students faced physical abuse in the wake of the attack.
A recent report by the Center for the Study of Organized Hate, Washington D.C., warns that Islamophobia is growing alarmingly in India.
“Modi is weaponizing hate against Muslims for political gains,” defense analysts say.
They add that Modi’s policies are fueling Hindu-Muslim tensions, potentially destabilizing the region.
